Story Title: Remembering Steve
By: Bill Erwin
I was, of course, saddened to hear of Steve’s passing.
But am glad that with the help of his family and friends he had perhaps more time with us than many expected.
I have a few GÇ£Steve storiesGÇ¥ but I am not a good story teller so I will keep them to myself.
I am sure others will fill the void.
However, I will share the following thoughts:
I was a young engineer when I first met Steve.
He immediately impressed me as a considerate thinker.
I can not recall him jumping to a quick conclusion or being openly critical of the way others approached problem solving.
He was a role model for me that influenced the rest of my career.
I left Indianapolis in 1987 and lost touch with Steve and many others that I came to know there.
But I often thought of Steve in the context of fishing trips, photography, and the many philosophical discussions we shared; and shall continue to do so.
Unfortunately, I am traveling and can not attend the celebration of Steve’s life on the 27th.
But I shall be thinking of him.
Warm regards to all,
Bill Erwin

Sorry to see Steve has left us but I will be celebrating his life along with you as he was a blessing to all of us!
Janet Stiles Lacy says
Judy, I send my deepest sympathy to you and your family. I remember the paper from Stephen you had on the wall in Krannert.
